Welcome to Week 1 of Home Learning for Grades 6-8

Posted: March 31, 2020

Dear Students,

Welcome to our MAA Grade 6-8 Home Learning Page!

Your teachers want to help you keep your skills sharp while learning from home. Each week, visit this page for opportunities for learning through links and ideas that your teachers have prepared. There will be no formal assessment of this work, but please feel free to email your subject teachers with any questions. For a list of teacher email addresses, CLICK HERE.

Below is the outline for this week, April 6th to April 10th:

1 - Numeracy: Visit Dreambox and sign up for an account. Select your grade level and try the first 5 lessons (or more!). CLICK HERE to sign up!

For an important message about Dreambox from your teachers: CLICK HERE

2 - English Literacy: Read 30 minutes each day.

If you have nothing to read, CLICK HERE to read eBooks and audiobooks using your Library card.

If you don’t have a Library card CLICK HERE to sign up!

Use the writing prompts HERE to reflect on your reading this week.

3 - French Literacy: Read 30 minutes each day. If you have nothing to read, CLICK HERE or CLICK HERE.

Use the writing prompts HERE to reflect on your reading this week.

4 - Move your body for at least 15 minutes each day. If you would like some creative ideas for doing that (like having a pillow fight!) Mrs. Thorne has a fun list that you can see by CLICKING HERE

5 - Take care of yourself! Things have changed a lot over the past few weeks and it can be hard to manage our emotions.  Focusing on the positive can help with that.  You might want to try a gratitude journal – list 3 things you’re grateful for each day.  Some of your teachers will also share their daily gratitude HERE

Know that we miss you dearly and we’re here to help you any way we can.

Yours in learning,

Your MAA Grades 6-8 Teachers
