7E – Language Arts Lesson – Wednesday 11/10

Good morning 7E!

Today we will be completing a lesson from our “take home” packet. The language arts lessons are stapled together, with instructions on the cover sheet. The work is organized into three days of material; please complete “Day 1.”

In the event you have misplaced it, I copied in the lesson for Day 1 here:

Complete the following quick writing prompt:

Now that autumn is here, you should be thinking about all those things you like about this fall season. Make a list of five things you like/dislike about this season. Choose one thing to write about in detail. Things to consider when making your list:  What makes this season special when compared to other seasons? Why do you like it more or less than other seasons? What is your fondest fall memory? What’s the first thing that pops into your mind when you think of fall?  10 minutes of writing time.

Next: Complete the work sheet on figurative language.

Next: Complete “Lesson 1: Finding the Main Idea”worksheets (pages 4,5,6,and 7).

Finally: Read your library book for 20 minutes. Complete a reading log. Remember, a reading log is a one paragraph response to what you have read. It includes, but is not limited to: a brief summary of the plot, and your personal response (how you feel about the events).

The last part of our lesson today will be looking at the Remembrance Day materials that are linked in below. These materials would have been used in the classroom this week. Included is the “Canada Remembers” newspaper which contains several great articles. Please choose at least one article to read today.

Good Luck! Please send me an email if you have any questions.
