7P - Language Arts Lesson - Tuesday 11/09

Posted: November 9, 2021

Good morning 7P!

Today in Language Arts we will be doing two things: focusing on our collaboration project, and catching up on work we may have missed from last week. First off, I would like you to go back through the LA lessons from last week to check on what you may have forgotten to do, or gotten behind on. Remember: this isn't a day off; it's a day to get caught up.

One of the lessons I assigned last week was doing the first day from our take home learning packet. I copied in the instructions from "Day 1" in language arts here:

Day 1

Complete the following quick writing prompt:

Now that autumn is here, you should be thinking about all those things you like about this fall season. Make a list of five things you like/dislike about this season. Choose one thing to write about in detail. Things to consider when making your list:  What makes this season special when compared to other seasons? Why do you like it more or less than other seasons? What is your fondest fall memory? What’s the first thing that pops into your mind when you think of fall?  10 minutes of writing time.

Next: Complete the work sheet on figurative language.

Next: Complete “Lesson 1: Finding the Main Idea”worksheets (pages 4,5,6,and 7).

Finally: Read your library book for 20 minutes. Complete a reading log. Remember, a reading log is a one paragraph response to what you have read. It includes, but is not limited to: a brief summary of the plot, and your personal response (how you feel about the events).

I'm sure most of you have already completed the above lesson. If not, please do so today.

For those that have finished it already, please write a summary of your collaboration project so far. In this summary, you should be answering questions like: What is the problem or issue I am trying to solve or fix? and How am I going to solve this problem or fix this issue? Finally, please describe how you are going to display your project (how will you pay for your tons?)

Last, but not least, I have attached a link to a Teams meeting here, which is taking place at 10am this morning. The presenter is Adam Trider, who is the "Center of Excellence for Energy Lead Teacher." He will be discussing Energy projects, and Energy in NB; which goes along nicely with our own collaboration project here at MAA.

Here is the link to the meeting:
