Today we will complete "Day 2" from our take home learning packet. I have copied in the instructions below, in case you cannot find yours at home. Please do not complete the "Pretest" worksheet; we will save that portion for another day.

Day 2

Complete the following quick writing prompt:

                Brainstorm of list of ideas of how this school year is similar (the same as) or different than previous school years. Your list should be a minimum of five ideas; the more you have, the better. Focus on one idea from your list; write about this idea in detail.  10 minutes of writing time.

Next:  Complete the PRETEST worksheet (skip this portion).

Next:  Continue “Finding the Main Idea” Worksheets (pages 7, 8, and 9).

Finally:  Read your library book for 20 minutes. When you are finished, write a brief summary of what happened. Then, activate your background knowledge to make one sensible inference and one sensible prediction. Remember, an inference is about what is currently happening, while a prediction is a guess as to what will happen next.
