Good morning students and families!

Today is our 11th day of Home Learning in 2022.

Here are today’s activities.

Letter Nn - This week we are introducing the letter Nn. Nn makes the sound /n/. This sound is made with the mouth slightly opened, with the tongue pushing up towards the roof of the mouth andagainst the back ofthe front teeth. Nigel Nightowl makes big owl eyes – use your hands to make big circles in front of your eyes as you make the sound.

Letter Nn Activities:

In your Home Learning packet, take out the letter n mini book and fold it into a booklet. Look at each picture in the book and name what it is. Then, point and read each word in the book aloud to someone at home.

Rhyming practice:Words that rhyme have the same sound at the end of the words. For example, cat rhymes with hat. They have the –at sound at the end of each word.

Can you think of a word that rhymes with bear? Can you think of a word that rhymes with look? Words that rhyme can be real words or nonsense words.

Sight Words:  The new words for List 3 are:        go      is        like

Today we are going to practice the word “go”. In your Home Learning packet, take out the sheet titled “Highlight it” with the word go. Highlight or color the word “go” throughout the passage.

Next, take out the sheet titled “Where I Go”. First, find the word “go” in each sentence. Look at the pictures and name what you see. Using your finger, point and read each sentence using the pictures to solve the unknown words. Today when you are reading the new words, look at the entire word carefully and listen for the beginning and ending sound of the words. For example, park begins with the /p/ sound and ends with the /k/ sound.

Math:

Number 7 Activity:

In your packet- Find the Seven Birds sheet and count and color 7 birds in each nest. Be careful some nests have more than 7 birds, so you won’t have to color all the birds.

Number practice:Using the green number cards in your home learning packet, put the numbers in order from 0 – 10. Have someone at home point to a number and tell them the number that comes before and after. For example, if they point to 5, the number before 5 is 4 and the number after 5 is 6. Practice this with all of the numbers on the cards.

Extension: Challenge someone at home by asking them what comes before and after a number and check if they are correct!

It is important to read to your child each day and have them go outside for physical activity.

Check out Mr. MacKinnon’s Teacher Page for some fun and creative ideas to stay physically active!

Any completed work can be stored in the Home Learning Kit- until we return to in person learning at school to be placed in their binders.

Once again, thank you for all your support during this challenging time of Home Learning.
