Good morning students and families!

Today is our 2nd day of Home Learning in 2022.

Here are today’s activities.

Language Arts:

Alphabet Review – Jan Richardson Alphabet Song    (Right click on link to open)

Letter Ll - This week we are learning about the letter l. Ll makes the sound /l/. This sound is made in the mouth - with the tongue pushing up against your top front teeth. Lizzy Lizard lays her body on a log as she makes the sound.

Letter Ll Activities:

  1. In your home learning packet, please take out the sheet for the My Ll Book. Fold the paper into a booklet. Go over each picture's name. Point to each word as you read the booklet.

Sight Words

Kindergarten students will now be learning sight words which are words they will know quickly without having to solve by sounding out - Words they will know by sight.

Our sight words for this week are:

 I       see  a

You will find these words on the index card inside your packet.

Practice these words by pointing to them out of order, write them on separate pieces of paper or playing a matching game.

Writing – On the back of the Help the Lion Find the Lake sheet from yesterday’s lesson, students can practice writing the sight words by writing the sentence “I see a ____” and choose something that starts with /l/ to finish their sentence. For example, “I see a lion.”

Math

Number 6:In your packet, take out the Number Six Train sheet. Trace the numeral 6 on the train. Count the candies in the boxes and cut and glue the picture that shows 6 candies onto the train. Color the train.

Video:   I can show the number 6 in many ways   (Right click on link to open)

Number 6 Hunt: Go on a number hunt for the number 6 around your house. Some places to check are calendars, food labels, page numbers, books, games, phone, etc.

It is important to read to your child each day and have them go outside for physical activity.

Squiggle Park – don't forget to check out Squiggle Park for lots of great literacy activities. You can log in using the information that was sent home earlier in the year.

Check out Mr. MacKinnon’s Teacher Page for some fun and creative ideas to stay physically active! He has added a Ten Day Dance Unit that students can try at home.

Any completed work can be stored in the Home Learning Kit - until we return to in person learning at school to be placed in their binders.

Once again, thank you for all your support during this challenging time of Home Learning.
