Good morning students and families!

Today is our 6th day of Home Learning in 2022.

Here are today’s activities.

Language Arts:

Letter Mm:

This week we are introducing the letter m. Mm makes the sound /m/. This sound is made by pressing your lips together and making a humming sound.

Activities:

In your Home Learning packet, take out your letter Mm mini book sheet and fold into a booklet. First, look at each picture in the book and name it. Next, point and read each word. Practice reading the book aloud to someone at home. You can also read to your pet or your favorite stuffie!

Sight Words: Today we are introducing our new words from List 2. These words are found on the index card with the List 1 words. The new words are: am at can

One way to practice recognizing the sight words is by writing them down on a piece of paper. Then point and read them aloud, and have your child point to the word when you say it.  Say the words in different orders. You can also add the words from last week when practicing this way too!

Writing: From your Home Learning packet, take out the sheet “I see the snowman”. Point and read each word. Then copy each word of the sentence on the lines. Remind your child that we put finger spaces between words so that we can read the words clearly. At the bottom of the page, draw a snowman.

Math:

ActivityUsing any small objects from home (macaroni, Lego, buttons, etc.) create sets of 6 --> 0+6, 1+5, 2+4, 3+3. How many are in each set? What is the total number? For example, 1 button + 5 buttons = 6 buttons in total. Show someone at home all of the combinations of 6 that you can make.

It is important to read to your child each day and have them go outside for physical activity.

Check out Mr. MacKinnon’s Teacher Page for some fun and creative ideas to stay physically active!

Any completed work can be stored in the Home Learning Kit - until we return to in person learning at school to be placed in their binders.

We hope you are enjoying the Home Learning activities and want to thank you again for your continued support. Please reach out if you have any questions.
