Good morning students and families!

Today is our 8th day of Home Learning in 2022.

Here are today’s activities.

Language Arts:

Alphabet Video: ABC Song: The Letter M, "The Mighty M" by StoryBots | Netflix Jr - YouTube (Right click on link to open)

Letter Mm:

This week we are introducing the letter m. Mm makes the sound /m/. This sound is made by pressing your lips together and making a humming sound.

Activity: Go on a letter m hunt at home! Take out your favorite story books or use magazines or food labels and find as many letter ms as you can! How many can you find? Challenge someone at home to see if they can find the letter m too. Who found the most?

Sight Words: Our Sight words are:am at can

In your Home Learning packet, take out the bubblegum “at” sheet. First look at the bubblegum machine and color the letters to spell the word at. On the bottom of the machine, highlight or circle all of the “at” words. You should find 5 of them. Then, complete the rest of the “at” activities on the sheet.

Next, take out the “at” reading sheet. Point and read each word in the sentences. You can color a star each time you read a sentence.

Reading: Take out the Snowman Colors book in the baggie. Have someone read the book aloud to you. Follow the instructions to complete the color pattern throughout the book. Then read the book aloud to someone. You can practice this book a couple of times throughout this week.

Math:

Activity: Practice counting aloud with someone at home. Take turns saying the number that comes next in the sequence. For example, if you say 1, the next person says 2, then you say 3, and so on. You can practice counting forward with your partner back and forth starting at one or from any other number. For example, start counting at 3 and stop at 10. Practice this a few times.

Game: Caterpillar Ordering - An Ordering and Sequencing Game (topmarks.co.uk) (right click on link) Click on the picture of the game. To play the ordering game, click on Forwards 1-5. To play the sequencing game, click on Counting in Ones 1-10. When playing the sequencing game, you will notice that the numbers do not always start at 1. Look at the first number carefully and fill in the missing numbers.

Don’t forget to read to your child each day and have them go outside for physical activity if it’s not too cold.

Check out Mr. MacKinnon’s Teacher Page for some fun and creative ideas to stay physically active!

Any completed work can be stored in the Home Learning Kit - until we return to in person learning at school to be placed in their binders.

We hope you are enjoying the Home Learning activities and want to thank you again for your continued support. Please reach out if you have any questions.
