Good morning students and families!
Today is our 13th day of Home Learning in 2022.
Here are today’s activities.
Language Arts:
Alphabet Review: Learn The Letter N | Let's Learn About The Alphabet | Phonics Song for Kids | Jack Hartmann - YouTube (right click on link to open)
Letter Nn - This week we are introducing the letter Nn. Nn makes the sound /n/. This sound is made with the mouth slightly opened, with the tongue pushing up towards the roof of the mouth and against the back of the front teeth. Nigel Nightowl makes big owl eyes – use your hands to make big circles in front of your eyes as you make the sound.
Letter Nn Activities:
Today we are going to practice printing the lowercase n. Start by printing one line down, from top to bottom. Then, go back up the line and make one hump. Remember you can practice printing the letter n first by using your finger to make n in the air or on a table. You can also practice printing n with your finger on someone’s back or on the palm of your hand!
Next, take out the Nigel Nightowl sheet and print 10 nifty n’s around the nightowl. Then color Nigel the best you can, trying to stay in the lines.
Sight Words: The new words for List 3 are: go is like
Today we are going to practice the word “like”. In your Home Learning packet, take out the bubblegum “like” sheet. First look at the bubblegum machine and color the letters to spell the word “like”. Then on the bottom on the bubblegum machine, highlight or circle all of the “like” words. There are 6 of them. Then complete the rest of the “like” activities on the sheet.
Next, find the “like” reading sheet with sentences in your packet. Find the word “like” in each sentence. How many are there? Look at the pictures to help solve new words and remember to look at the beginning and ending sounds in the new words too. Point to the words and read each sentence.
Reading: Take out the Community Helpers book in your packet. Can you think of some people who work in our community? Brainstorm some ideas before looking at the book. Open the book and look at the pictures. As you look at each page, try to find the sight words “I, am, a” throughout the book. The word “I” in this book looks like a lowercase l because it is missing the top and bottom of the capital I. Sometimes we see “I” written like this. Carefully read through the book, tracking the words with your finger and using the pictures to solve the new words.
Math:

Number 7 Activity:
Use any small objects from home and create sets of 7--> 0+7, 1+6, 2+5, 3+4. How many are in each set? Which set is the largest? Which set is the smallest? How many do you have altogether? A helpful way to create sets is by taking a piece of paper or paper plate and drawing a line down the middle. Using your 7 objects, create two sets, one on each side of the line. This will help to clearly see how many are in each set.
It is important to read to your child each day and have them go outside for physical activity.

Any completed work can be stored in the Home Learning Kit- until we return to in person learning at school to be placed in their binders.
