Good morning students and families!  

Today is our 8th day of Home Learning. Here are today’s activities. 

Language Arts: 

Alphabet Review - Alphabet Freeze Dance for Kids by The Kiboomers   

Letter Gg - This week we are introducing the letter g. Gg makes the sound /g/ (guh). Remember Gordo Gorilla pounds his chest when he makes the sound.

Letter Gg Scavenger Hunt – Look around inside and outside of your house and see if you can find these things that begin with g: 

What else can you find that begins with g? 

Math 

This week we are learning about subitizing. Subitizing is the ability to instantly recognize, without counting, “how many” in a small set (dots on a dice).  

Another way to practice subitizing is using counters from the covid package- show all the different ways you can represent 5. (Ex. Counters lined in a row; two above, one in middle, two below) Remember if we do not add any new or take any away we still have 5 no matter how we arrange them!

Fine Motor: Practice printing the letter g and the numeral 5 on paper. Remember you can always practice printing on the back of an envelope to save on paper. 

Website: If you have the opportunity, check out squigglepark.com, a literacy program where students can have fun learning and practicing letter names, sounds and more! Class code and student codes were emailed yesterday. Click on Student Play and then enter class code, select student name and enter student code. 

It is important to read to your child each day and have them go outside for physical activity.
