Home learning opportunities June 1st-7th

Posted: June 1, 2020

Due Date:

Sunday, June 7, 2020

We did it! We finally made it to June! I have enjoyed hearing from all of you and speaking with everyone. With only two weeks of official home learning remaining, we will begin to wind down home learning. I will be posting readings this week, but I will be focusing on report cards next week. I will still be reaching out to all of you so if there is anything I can do to help you, let me know. I also recognize that many of you returning to work full time in your workplaces. I wish you all the best in this transition.

Math

Number of the day- two "number of the day" for the week - 209 and 793

Problem of the day- New problems for the week. A translated version of this will be added to the document.

Digital learning- Continue playing on Sumdog and Dreambox! Low tech game ideas: play yahtzee, uno, war, or cribbage (if you don't know how to play, perhaps parents or grandparents can help! First person to 120 wins!) Measuring out ingredients for recipes is another way to math math fun and interactive.

Literacy

Sight words- vous, jamais, ta/ton/tes, même, vite, bien, oui, non, jusqu'à. I've recorded these words as well as a sample sentence to help you practice reading and writing with these words. Students don't need to be writing words like spelling words; writing should have them using them properly in a sentence. Practice reading and writing with these words. Send me a picture or video of you making sentences with these words! I would love to see you using them!

Reading- make sure you are reading 30 minutes a day- English or French. I assigned a French book on kidsa-z.com for each child for the week. I am working on recording each book and will leave them up until Sunday, when I will remove them from the site.

Other opportunities

Be sure to check out the K-2 and 3-5 tabs for other ideas! Virtual olympics are still ongoing, so check out the daily challenges, snap some pictures or videos and send them to me!

Miss you all,

Mme. S
