Hello 5 Dunnett,

Today we are going to do things a little differenlty for Literacy. Normally if we were in class, I would use today to focus all about Remembrance Day and do all kinds of activities. But since we aren't together we won't get to do everything that I would have liked too. Below you'll see I mainly planned activities around Remembrance Day, as I do believe that it is important that we take time to focus on it.

Reading:

  • Open up with listening to this read aloud from YouTube called "A poppy to Remember". Then find someone in your house hold to tell them what you just read/listened too about it.
  • Down below you will see In Flanders Fields reading comprehension. Please read this and answers the questions on a sheet of loose leaf.
  • Then you can work on Dreamscape - you will need to email for your usernames and passwords for this website.
  • I also challenge you to go on Tumble books (username: nblib    Password: nbschools) and find a good Remembrance Day book to listen too and be sure to write down the title, that way you can share with me on what you came acrossed.

Writing:

  • Today, I want you to take the time to write a nice Thank You letter to a Veteran.
  • Down below you will see an example of a letter that Ms. Williston's class wrote to give you an idea of what it is that I am wanting you guys all to do.
  • You can hand write it on a sheet of paper or you are more then welcome to type it up as well.
  • Please send me a picture of your letter as I would like to read them.
  • You are also more then willing to mail your letter to a Veteran or stop by at any Legion and they would make sure a Veteran gets it.
  • Here are some key words to help you with your writing.

KeyWords:

Thankful          Grateful        Courageous          Service

Fighting          Freedom        Bravery               Brave

Hero             Great             Poppy           Remembrance Day

Sacrifice         Family           Country               Canada

Math:

  • Continue with working on DreamBox
  • Please also start going over your Math Test review slides that I had posted on yesterday's Lesson. Please do a few slides each day.

Art:

Here is a link to one of the most popluar songs/videos. Take some time out of your day to have a listen, I promise you will love this song as much as I do. It is called "A Pittance of Time" by Terry Kelly

Just a little reminder that since tomorrow is Remembrance Day, that there is no school. Take that time to reflect and remember the men and woman who fought for our freedom.

Hope you all have a terrific day!!
