Bonjour mes amis!

Today is our first day of home learning. Our plan is to provide you with activities you can use from the Home Learning packets that were sent home in September and additional activities posted on our Teacher Pages.

Today’s activities are the following:

Litteracie/Language Arts

  1. Review the following sounds: a, e, i, o, u, é, è, oi, on - I will post the videos to go along with the sounds
  2. Read a book on https://jelis.rkpublishing.com/student/
You can also record yourself reading and send it to me!

You can also access lalilo or auroyaume de sons, if you wish

If you need login information for any of those, please let me know

Math

  1. Practice counting from 0 – 20 en francais. You can count objects in your home, count while you are walking, and count Halloween candy just for a few examples.

There is a new adventure posted on Zorbit's (https://play.zorbitsmath.com/) - if you do not have access to a computer or an ipad, there are math activities in your learning packet.

It is important to read to your child each day and have them go outside for physical activity.

Don't forget that you can listen to stories on Youtube, or watch videos on streaming platforms with the language changed to French.

If you have any questions please email me at marly.sutherland@nbed.nb.ca

Students were all sent home with word lists to practice for this week. Le bobo de coco conchon is still the book for most. I made videos for two books - le magasin et l'école, but they saved sideways. They will be uploaded tomorrow.

Lunch orders for Thursday need to be in by tomorrow.

Bonjour à toutes et tous! Here is your update for this week:

** February 1 is now a normal school day **

Homework for this week:

  • Read every night

  • Practice words

  • Watch/listen to French content for 10 minutes a day (streaming sites, radio stations, tv)

  • Math

  • Grade 1 – practice counting backwards from 20 to 1

  • Grade 2 – practice counting money (dimes and nickels) or counting by 10s and 5s

Some reminders:

  • If your child needs a fork or a spoon, please send one with them. They are supplied if they are ordering items for lunch, but they cannot go to the cafeteria to get a fork or spoon. I have been buying them to hand out, and will continue to have them in case you forget, but I’ve been going through a lot lately the past few weeks.

  • We are still in orange, and your students have been great at remember to wear their masks during the day. Make sure that they have a spare. We are playing outside for recess this week, and they sometimes get wet outside.

  • We have outdoor recess every day that it’s not too cold. Make sure your student has everything they need to play outside.

Have a great week everyone!

Bonjour à toutes et tous!

Here is your update for this week:

Wednesday Jan 20 is Family Literacy Day. There will be a free lunch of Green Eggs and Ham. The students indicated yesterday if they would like the meal. If they do not want the lunch, please send them with something else. We will be having a pajama day to celebrate, and there may be some treats as well!

Homework for this week:

  • Read every night

  • Practice words

  • Math – practice counting by 10s to 100, by 5s to 50, and by 2s to 20

I’m also asking everyone to watch/listen to French content for 10 minutes a day. If you are watching on Youtube or Netflix (on computer or device, I don’t think it works streaming directly to TV), you can slow the speed so they can hopefully hear it better, because sometimes they talk really fast. This is important because they need to get used to hearing other people speaking French. This will also hopefully help them build their vocabulary.

Some Youtube videos that you can start with:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Juf5635X5kk - L'énorme sandwich (The big sandwich) - this Youtube channel has a lot of great read alouds!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xBpHkMgWld8La Chenille Qui Fait Des Trous (de Eric Carle)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8lkPUEP0ZQ0Le Lion et la Souris (has English subtitles)

Also there are many videos on mini tfo available at https://www.tfo.org/fr/mini-tfo/videos These videos are short, but I don't know if there is a way to slow the speed on them. You can also change the language on many videos on Netflix, Disney+, Amazon Prime and other streaming services.

On Friday we'll talk about what we watched in French!

Hello families! Here is the homework for this week:

Read every night (the book 'Qui est dans ta famille' will be uploaded for those that are reading that one

Pratice your word list - everyone has been working so hard, and many students moved onto their next lists this week! A few are at list number 4, and a video of that list will be uploaded for those that would like to view it at home

Gr 1 - count backwards from 20-1 (20, 19, 18, 17, etc - make sure to try to say all of your numbers in French!)

Gr 2 - count backwards by 2s starting at 100 (100, 98, 96, 94, etc - again, practice in French, and try not to get confused with the 90s and 70s)

Have a great week everyone!

C’est Noel, c’est Noel La, la, la, la, la, la, la, la
Le sapin est tout décoré La, la, la, la, la, la, la, la
Un chocolat, un nougat La, la, la, la, la, la, la, la
Le Père Noel va passer La, la, la, la, la, la, la, la

All I Want for Christmas is my Two Front Teeth -https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IokiF-r72Vo

All I want for Christmas is my two front teeth
My two front teeth
See my two front teeth
Gee, if I could only have my two front teeth
Then I could wish you, "Merry Christmas"

It seems so long since I could say
"Sister, Susie sitting on a thistle!"
Gosh, oh gee, how happy I'd be, if I could only whistle

Repeat whole song 2 times

All I want for Christmas is my two front teeth
My two front teeth
See my two front teeth
Gee, if I could only have my two front teeth
Then I could wish you, "Merry Christmas"
