Dear Parents and/or Guardians,

Welcome to our class!  The students have been busy settling into the routines of school and I am so enjoying getting to know each student in my class!

I will be posting notes and pictures of our classroom adventures on this teacher page so please check it to see what your child has been learning in class.

If you need to reach out to me for any reason, please feel free to email me and I will get back to you as soon as I can.  My email is erica.hambrook@nbed.nb.ca.

I am excited to teach and learn with your kids this year! We are going to have a great year!

Ms. Hambrook :)

Hello everyone! Happy October! Our apologies for not posting before now. September in Kindergarten is extremely busy and hectic. Then add Covid-19 on top of the usual frenzy and time gets away from us.

We have thoroughly enjoyed getting to know our new Kindergarten kiddos these past few weeks. We know how important this first year of school is in setting up a good foundation and a positive mindset for the learning years.

As you noticed, home learning packets were sent home. These packets are ONLY to be used in the event schools are closed due to Covid-19. If that happens, we will be posting daily on our individual teacher pages to let you know what items you will need to use.

So far this year, we have learned about bus safety, playground safety, fire safety, and lockdown procedures. We have worked on name recognition and printing, the introduction of the alphabet and colours. In Math, we have introduced sorting, patterns and number sense.

Starting last week, we introduced two letters per week.  Students will be practicing alphabet activities both at home and school. In Math, we began learning about numbers starting with zero.

We hope to update our teacher pages on a weekly basis. Please check our individual teacher pages for pictures of what we have been learning and activities or websites you can check out with your child.

Please feel free to email us with any questions or concerns.

Happy learning!

Hi boys and girls!

Here are the new sight words for this week: her, over, this, want.  You can add these to your campfire notebooks and practice them along with the others.

This week, the staff at MAA returned to work.  Our classroom is very empty without all of you in it!  I miss you all so much and can't wait for the day I get to see your smiling faces again!

This week, Chase celebrated his birthday!  We hope you had a great day Chase!!

Have a great week girls and boys!

Hi boys and girls!

I hope you all had a great weekend! It was so beautiful outside and I spent lots of time enjoying the nice weather.  I love checking in and seeing what you all have been up to at home.  I'll be calling again this week.  I can't wait to talk to you!

This week's new sight words are: your, all, away, back.  You can add these to your campfire notebooks and practice them at home.  Don't forget to check out the pictures in the gallery of ways to practice your sight words if you haven't checked them out already.

Hope you all have a great week!

Hi everyone!

This week, I am adding list 13 to our sight word practice. You can add these words to your campfire notebooks and practice them using some of the ideas from the sight word choice board that is also posted on my teacher page.

The new words are: day, down, into, looking

I hope you get a chance to practice these new words, along with some of the home learning opprotunities this week.

Please also remember to check out Raz Kids, where students can listen to and read books aloud. If you have any questions about this, please send me an email.

Math: This week students are asked to practice naming 2D and 3D shapes. Just a reminder that Kindergarten students do not need to name 3D shapes using proper names.  Instead, they can refer to a cube as a box, a cylinder as a can, and a sphere as a ball.

Hope you have a great week! Happy Learning!

Hi everyone!

I have signed up our class for Raz Kids.  This is a website where students can log in and check out levelled books. To access the site, go to http://www.kidsa-z.com/. Next enter or click on our class username: KinHambrook.  Then you should see your child's name.  Click their name and enter the password.  Your child's password is their name1.  For example, if the student's name was Charlie, their password would be Charlie1.

If you have any questions, please email me: erica.hambrook@nbed.nb.ca :)

Good morning boys and girls! Today is Wednesday April 22 and it is Earth Day! It is a great day to celebrate the Earth and enjoy all of the things that are part of nature. The trees are starting to grow again after the winter months and I even have some flowers starting to pop up in my yard!  Look around your yard or out your window today and see what things you can find that make our Earth so beautiful.

Recycling is very important for the Earth. We have blue recycle bins that we can put paper, cardboard, and plastics in to be recycled and used again. Recycling is a great way to help the Earth!

I hope you take some time today to think about our Earth and how important it is for us to take special care of it! Happy Earth Day!

Hi boys and girls!  I hope you are all doing good and having fun with your families while you're at home!  I miss seeing your smiling faces everyday.  Graydon, Will, and I have been keeping busy building lego, drawing pictures (you all know Ms. Hambrook is not much of an artist!), baking lots of goodies, and getting lots of fresh air when the weather is nice.

On Monday, April 6, we are going to be starting some fun new things that you can try at home with your families. You can check out our K-2 Teacher Page on the MAA website for these ideas. Feel free to try as many as you like.

I miss everyone so much.  Not seeing you all makes me sad but hopefully we'll be able to see each other soon.  I will be leaving messages on my teacher page each week so please check back.

Talk soon!

Love, Ms. Hambrook
