Miramichi, November 5th, 2012 - Jeunesses Musicales Canada, Miramichi Chapter, will present Mozart’s opera Così fan tutte Saturday November 17th, 7:30 p.m. at Carrefour Beausoliel. This is part of the Desjardins Concert  series 2012-2013.Among all operas presented worldwide, Così fan tutte is no doubt one of the most performed and most appreciated by the public. Joy and delight await you in this fanciful and far-fetched story of these two uncommon couples. Literally “Thus do they all”, this 18th century opera tells a tale of jealousy, trickery and mischief. Sung in Italian with subtitles in English and in French, Cosi is performed by the country’s finest emerging artists. The action takes place in Naples, late 1700s. Don Alfonso, a cynical old bachelor, debates women's constancy with Ferrando and Guglielmo, young officers who insist their sweethearts -- the sisters Dorabella and Fiordiligi -- are faithful. Alfonso bets that if they give him one day and do everything he asks, he will prove the sisters are like all other women -- fickle. Later, Alfonso pays a visit, bringing news that Guglielmo and Ferrando have been ordered away with their regiment. But Ferrando and Guglielmo return in disguise to test their lover fidelity. By the end, confessions are made and forgiveness is begged..... In a setting transposed to early 1960s, “Madmen” style, stage director Alain Gauthier uses his customary originality to rediscover an opera which, for years, conquered the heart of many music lovers. With the talented pianist Louise-Andrée Baril as musical director, this concert will appeal to a wide audience. For the Miramichi presentation, tickets are available at the door in the evening of the concert. They are also available at Books Inn, Miramichi West and at the reception desk at Carrefour Beausoliel. Tickets for adults are $30.00. School students are admitted free. Those 14 and under must be accompanied by an adult.Exerts from the performance can be viewed at:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0w21d75Ef-s
