Report cards will go home with students on Tuesday November 19th with parent teacher interviews on Thursday November 21 from 4:00 - 6:30 pm and again on Friday November 22 from 9:00 until 11:00 am. Please note, there is no school for students on Friday November 22.
Max Aitken Academy learning community will be hosting the annual Remembrance Day ceremony on Thursday November 7th in the Middle School Gymnasium at 10:30 am. Every year on November 11, Canadians pause in a moment of silence to honour and remember the men and women who have served, and continue to serve Canada during times of war, conflict and peace. We remember the more than 2,300,000 Canadians who have served throughout our nation’s history and the more than 118,000 who made the ultimate sacrifice.
Everyone is welcomed and encouraged to attend this important ceremony.
On October 31st MAA will be hosting the annual Halloween Parade and Assembly. The event will begin at 1:00 pm in the Middle School Gymnasium. Prizes will be awarded for best costume at various grade levels. Parents and family members are welcome to attend!
MAA Home & School will be hosting a spooky Haunted House for students on Thursday Oct. 24th from 6:00 - 8:00 pm. More details to follow in a memo going home with the students. Stay tuned!
Take Me Outside Day is a reminder to do just that. It’s an invitation to extend the classroom beyond four walls and a desk and engage with school grounds and natural areas. This year, Take Me Outside Day will take place on October 23rd at Max Aitken Academy!
The entire learning community of Max Aitken Academy would like to wish everyone a wonderful upcoming Thanksgiving Weekend. Max Aitken classes will be collecting food for the local food bank all this week as part of the leadup to Thanksgiving. Items will be collected in each homeroom class and delivered to the food bank on Friday October 11. A big thank you in advance for your support of the local food bank in Miramichi!
Our major fundraiser of the year finished up on Monday September 30 and the winner of the $1000 in gas will be announced this Friday Oct. 4th. Max Aitken would like to thank the entire learning community for the continued support of this important fundraising initiative. Good luck to all who participated.
On Monday September 30th Max with be particpating in the annual Orange Shirt Day Ceremony. Orange Shirt Day is an event that started in 2013. It was designed to educate people and promote awareness about the Indian residential school system and the impact this system had on Indigenous communities for more than a century in Canada.
Everyone is asked to wear Orange on Monday to support this important initiative.
On Thursday September 26th the entire learning community will be participating in the annual Terry Fox School Walk at 1:00 pm. Everyone is encouraged to come out and walk with the school in support of this important cause. Please note, the theme is "Toonie for Terry" where we are asking all students and staff to contribute a toonie toward the fight against cancer.
