On Tuesday night ASD-N hosted their annual Turnaround Achievement Awards.  Max Aitken Academy is proud to announce that Madison Warren received the award.  The entire learning community is so proud of Madison and her ability to overcome some major obstacles.  Congratulations Madison!

Our grade 8 students will be travelling to Quebec City from June 5-7.  This will be a remarkable learning expereience for our students as they will be exposed to the french language, culture, traditions, and historical impact on Canada.  Parents are reminded that there will be a mainditory parent meeting this Wednesday May 29th for those who have children going on the trip.  Meeting time is 6:30 pm at the school.

Staff from MAA will be taking part in the Foosball tournament as part of Rotary Rib Fest this Saturday on the water front.  Please take the time to stop by and cheer on the Max staff as they vie for Foosball champs!  There will also be tickets sold on a chance to win a Via Rail $500 voucher.  All money raised from the ticket sales will go toward our playground!  Hope to see you on Saturday May 25th!

Girls from across the district will partake in a "Cyber Day For Girls" program on May 22.  Lead by district lead Mrs. Krista Hamilton, the girls will experience a full day of how to Help protect your girls online with this one-day cybersecurity learning experience!

Max Aitken is proud to be hosting the ASD-N annual Mawi'Omi on May 16th.  Students from various schools in the district will be in attendance to celebrate.  Parents and community members are encouraged to attend!  Please note that the ceremmony will begin at 9:30 am on the old Croft grounds at the back of the school. (If rain the ceremony will move to the gymnasium.)

On Wednesday, May 1st, students in grades 4 - 8 will see Tintamarre's latest bilingual comedy - Solitaire.  Tintamarre is a bilingual theatre troupe from Mount Allison University who tour the maritimes each spring with a bilingual show.  Their shows are always high-energy and thought provoking, and are a wonderful opportunity for our students to engage their second language skills.

On Friday, April 12th students in grades 6-8 will have the opportunity to take part in Health Canada's Consider the Consequences tour.  The tour is an interactive exhibit about the dangers and risks of vaping.  

The exhibit is open to the public from 3pm - 5pm.  We encourage parents and guardians to attend and to talk with their tweens and teens about the risks of vaping.

Reminder to parents that Easter Weekend is April 19 - 22.  There is no school for students and staff on Friday April 19 and Monday April 22.
