Students have to get their second Journal entry signed tonight and returned for tomorrow.  They have the option to use my feedback or conference with me during Student Enhancement (this Thursday and Friday) and rewrite their entries for me to mark again. I have attached a sample entry.

All classes have received and signed their safety contracts.  For homework, students are to have a parent or guardian sign at the bottom on the back side and return to school as soon as possible.

Students are required to complete a reading journal for this coming Tuesday.  We have been reading The Cage by Ruth Minsky-Sender and students are to respond to the attached prompt.  Rubrics are in students Reader's Notebooks and I've attacted my journal entry as a sample.

As students sell tickets for our fundraiser, please make sure to bring the money in to homeroom.  Students can win prizes!  If ticket books are not being sold just return them and they can be recirculated to other students.
8A and 7/8B will present their safety guideline on Tuesday, Sept. 22nd 7A will present on Wednesday, Sept. 23rd Students have used either skits, power point, posters, videos or smart notebook to teach their classmates about one of our ten saftey guidelines for the Science Lab.  If they haven't finished they may work on it at home.  Because it is group work, they have had class time and will have all their student enhancements until it's due to work on it. Safety contracts will be sent home by the end of next week to be signed by parents/guardians.

Students should be reading at least 15 minutes per night and have been encouraged to discuss our novel study on Ruth Minsky-Sender's The Cage.  It is a powerful, non-fiction novel based on the Holocaust and WWII. Through at home discussions I hope students will make more text to world and text to self connections.

Welcome to your 2015-2016 Language Arts and Science homework page!  8A will come here for LA homework and other information and can also visit for all things Science.  7/8B and 7A will find Science assignments and reminders here as well.  Here's to a wonderful year!
Students have been working in groups with Edgar Allan Poe's "The Tell Tale Heart" and turning it into a storyboard.  They must have their scenes on looseleaf, a rough draft on white paper and the final copy on cue cards (or another medium of their choice).  The plot can not be altered but the characters, setting and other details can be.  Have fun!
Chapter 4 - Viscosity:  Thick or thin.
Rough copies as well as good copies.
Students have been working on their Science Fair projects for the last week and a half.  They are permitted partners and can choose from an experimental, reseasrch or comparison study type of project.  I have extra tri-fold presentation boards here at school that are available to any that would like one (recycled).  Each student has a booklet of choices as well as tips on what they should have on their boards and in their projects.  The school level fair will be held on March 19th here at Harkins.
