In this Science activity, students were asked to develop a system of classification for a bag full of different buttons.  Some of the categories and sub-categories were very creatively defined.  It is human nature to organize and classify things and we use a very intricate system to classify living organisms based on their specific traits.  Classification goes back as far as Aristotle, who was the first to classify living things into two major groups:  Plants and Animals.  Now, we have Fungi and Micro-organisms as Kingdoms as well.  It is quite obvious that we have many budding scientists on the Purple Team!
