Use these videos to help you get started.  For today, just do the first sheet of brainstorming where you write all your ideas in a list or a web.  See attached documents for examples.  You can brainstorm on your own paper (looseleaf) or print and use one of the templates below.

There will be bumps as students learn this process.  Please email me if you have any questions or difficulties.  Step 1 is to try first.  When that doesn't work, ask for help and i'll do my best to assist.

Students will write about their history as a reader, starting with their earliest memory and working their way up to present day.  Please read sample to get an idea of what you can do.  Grade 6s can do their elementary history, preferences, favorite places to read and challenges.  Grade 7 will do those things as well as talk about how they've changed as a reader from elementary to middle school.
Start with
  1. first memory of them reading or being read to
  2. what books do they remember most and why
  3. what books do their first remember reading on their own and why did they like them
  4. what did they read throughout elementary
  5. what are they reading now
  6. what are their challenges as readers
  7. what are their goals as readers
  8. where is your favorite place to read
