Home Learning Day 1

Reading

Read 15-20 mins. from the book that you have at home and record in your Reading Log, as usual; if your Reading Log is full, please turn over and record neatly on the back.

Practise reading the poem, “In Flanders Fields,” by John McCrae; read through at least 3 times, first for accuracy, then fluency and comprehension, paying special attention to the punctuation marks.

Writing

Write about your Hallowe’en adventures; tell me about your costume, trick-or-treating, your goodies gathered- or, if you prefer, you may write about something else, a topic of your choice.

Spelling

Practise your List 8 Spelling words; they are in your black Homework duo-tang, and they also appear above.  Just as we do in class, write the number of sounds that you hear in each word on the Spelling sheet, beside the word.

Math

Review 9+ addition facts, as found in your black Homework duo-tang.

Extra challenge: Put these words/phrases in alphabetical order; the answer will be posted later in the week so that you can check your work!!

Hi boys and girls,

Here I am, beginning Week 3 of my Wellness Journey, and I must say, I’m having limited success so far; I guess the lesson is that change is difficult- but not impossible, for sure!!  I am continuing to do well with drinking my water, but I still have not done any walking, nor have I begun eating breakfast (old habits die hard, and I haven’t eaten breakfast since I was in elementary school!!).  So, for this week my goals are:

1. To walk at least 20 minutes on at least 3 days this week (same)

2. To drink at least 6 glasses of water every day this week (same)

3. To eat breakfast at least 4 days out of seven (changed slightly)

Please continue to check up on me, and cheer me on, as I could use some encouragement!!  Feel free, also, to send me an email (maryann.barrieau@nbed.nb.ca) at any time to either ask how I'm doing or to let me know how you're doing; I would love to hear from you!!  Have a great week, everyone!!  <3

Hi boys and girls,

As you know, last week I began my Wellness Journey by setting two goals for myself- and now it's confession time!!  I did very well with getting my water in and so I'm going to increase the number of glasses I aim to drink each day.  However, I must admit that even though the weather was pretty great, I did not do any walking; I am disappointed in myself but am determined to do better this week- I'm not giving up that easily!!  So, for this week my goals are:

1. To walk at least 20 minutes on at least 3 days this week (same)

2. To drink at least 6 glasses of water every day this week (rather than 4 glasses)

3. To begin eating breakfast every day (new)

Please continue to check up on me, and feel free to send me an email (maryann.barrieau@nbed.nb.ca) at any time to either ask how I'm doing or to let me know how you're doing; I would love to hear from you!!  Have a great week, everyone!!  <3
