Greetings 5 Dunnett,

Here is your work that I would like you to do today!!

Literacy:

  • In your packet I would like you guys to do the reading comprehensions "The Amazingly Adapted Arctic Fox" and "The Hidden Treasure". Like we would do in class, I would like you guys to go back through the story and underline or highlight where you find your answers. It will also help if you try reading the stories out loud.
  • Please keep up with doing your 15 minutes of reading everyday as well, and please log it in your reading log. There was a reading log sheet that was sent in your packet.
  • I know that most of you guys loved doing Dreamscape. If you can't remember your usernames or passwords, please send me an email and I will get those to you.
  • With writing, I would like you to go to your Winter Writing Prompts and to pick at least two more topics to write about in your notebook that was sent home. If you find that you are having a hard time with the topics, please pick one of your own. Remember, we are grade 5, so we should be able to write a good 5 pargraph essay.
  • Students can also do their "Alphabetical Order" winter sheet.
  • Students can also go to the creative story with the boy dressed up as a clown and write what they believe is happening within the story.

Math:

  • Students can go to their Math and pick any 3 sheets that they would like to do.
  • I would also encourage for students to keep up with studying their Multplication facts as well and to get an adult in your house to quiz you on your facts.
  • Dreambox - Students are not new to this. If you need their usernames or passwords please email me.
  • Multplication.com - This is a good website where students can play games with practicing their Math facts.
  • Hit the Button - Students can also use this for a review for their facts as well.

It is important for your child to read each day and have them go outside for physical activity. Check out Mr.Flynn's Teacher Page for some fun and creative ideas to stay physically active!

If you have any questions at all regarding anything, please don't hesiate to email me. I will do my best to help you out. All I am asking is that you try. All work that is done in the packet will have to be returned to me when we are back in person!!

Remember to keep all your work in a safe place, as you will need to bring your work back and hand in to me when you return.

Have a great day and stay safe!!

Hello 5 Dunnett,

Today we are going to do things a little differenlty for Literacy. Normally if we were in class, I would use today to focus all about Remembrance Day and do all kinds of activities. But since we aren't together we won't get to do everything that I would have liked too. Below you'll see I mainly planned activities around Remembrance Day, as I do believe that it is important that we take time to focus on it.

Reading:

  • Open up with listening to this read aloud from YouTube called "A poppy to Remember". Then find someone in your house hold to tell them what you just read/listened too about it.
  • Down below you will see In Flanders Fields reading comprehension. Please read this and answers the questions on a sheet of loose leaf.
  • Then you can work on Dreamscape - you will need to email for your usernames and passwords for this website.
  • I also challenge you to go on Tumble books (username: nblib    Password: nbschools) and find a good Remembrance Day book to listen too and be sure to write down the title, that way you can share with me on what you came acrossed.
  • YouTube Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eJZQVhaxwH4

Writing:

  • Today, I want you to take the time to write a nice Thank You letter to a Veteran.
  • Down below you will see an example of a letter that Ms. Williston's class wrote to give you an idea of what it is that I am wanting you guys all to do.
  • You can hand write it on a sheet of paper or you are more then welcome to type it up as well.
  • Please send me a picture of your letter as I would like to read them.
  • You are also more then willing to mail your letter to a Veteran or stop by at any Legion and they would make sure a Veteran gets it.
  • Here are some key words to help you with your writing.

KeyWords:

Thankful          Grateful        Courageous          Service

Fighting          Freedom        Bravery               Brave

Hero             Great             Poppy           Remembrance Day

Sacrifice         Family           Country               Canada

Math:

  • Continue with working on DreamBox
  • Please also start going over your Math Test review slides that I had posted on yesterday's Lesson. Please do a few slides each day.

Art:

Here is a link to one of the most popluar songs/videos. Take some time out of your day to have a listen, I promise you will love this song as much as I do. It is called "A Pittance of Time" by Terry Kelly

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2kX_3y3u5Uo

Just a little reminder that since tomorrow is Remembrance Day, that there is no school. Take that time to reflect and remember the men and woman who fought for our freedom.

Hope you all have a terrific day!!

Bonjour 5 Dunnett,

Hope you guys are all doing well with the home learning. I have been so enjoying receiving messages of all the work you all have been doing. Keep up with the great work!  Remember, if you don't understand or need help. Please reach out to me and I would love to help you in away that I can. Just know that all I am asking, is for you to at least try to complete some of the work that I have been assigning.

Just a note to please continue working on the lesson plan that I have attached on the first day. The way I had designed it, is it should take you all week to complete. Keep checking my teacher page daily, as I will be adding to the lesson each day. Also, be sure that you are keeping all your work that you have been doing in a folder, because I will be collecting all your work once we return together!

Literacy -  Please keep up with doing your reading log and log it daily. Don't forget that if you are stuck with something to write about, please go to the choice board that I have made with topics already on it to help you get started. I've attached the last spelling sheet for you guys to complete with this weeks spelling words. Remember, if you can't print the sheet, please write your answers on a sheet of loose leaf. When you have completed that, find someone in your house hold to play hangman by using your spelling words. REMEMBER your spelling test will be tomorrow!

Remembrance Day is  next week, so I have attached a reading comprehension for you to read and answer the questions. Again, just write your answers on a sheet of loose leaf if you are unable to print the sheet.

Math - Keep up with doing the lessons on Dreambox. If you haven't yet emailed me to request your usernames or passwords, please do so. The first link below is a little review game of Estimating Sums and Differences. This is something that we have been working on in class. The second link is just a fun game for you to work on your multiplication strategies!!

https://www.mathgames.com/skill/5.30-estimate-sums-and-differences-of-de...

https://www.multiplication.com/games/play/car-rush-multiplication

Science - We have been learning about the three states of Matter (Soild, Liquid & Gas). Down below you will see a link with a Matter project that you can do at home. All that you will need is glue or tape, scissors, magazines, newspaper, and paper to make a book. Please read the insturctions carefully and have fun with it.

**Don't forget to check out Mr. Flynn's and Mrs. Gallant's teacher pages for activities in Phys.Ed and Music. **

Miss you all so much! Hopefully we are back together really soon!!
