Tues/Thurs activity period

1. Go to: https://makecode.microbit.org/#

2. Click Orange 'Getting started' button in top right of the screen and follow instructions.

3. Click 'Exit Tutorial' when it prompts you to connect USB.

4. Click 'Projects' in top left corner and then 'projects' again and choose one to try

5. When you have gone through the tutorial you can hit the cycle arrows key to try the code out

6. When you have tried a few, let your teacher know you are ready to try to download to the micro:bit

Gr 7: Operations with Fractions assignment was due today. We are currently reviewing addition and subtraction of fractions and will have a test the first of next week. Attached is tomorrow's in-class/homework assignment.

7/8 H Science: 

Currently working on STEM projects, lab next week to review scientific method and a test on scientific method the week of Feb.12. STEM projects are due before March Break.

7/8 H Health: 

Substance Education assignment due Mon Feb. 5 (to be presented in the fashion discussed in class).

7P Math: 

Operations with Fractions assignment was due today. We are currently reviewing addition and subtraction of fractions and will have a test the first of next week. 

6/7 Technology:

Currently working on MaKey MaKey cardboard Carnival games.  To be complete Feb.23rd. 

7/8 Technology: 

Projects: CO2 cars, Rockets, Hot Air Balloons and other approved projects.  Remember that you are being assessed on collaboration, task persistance/independence, problem solving, precision, measurement, safe use of small tools / shop tools the next few weeks.

 

7/8H Math and 7P Math will be writing a school-wide Benchmark Assessment Tues and Wed next week (an assessment of what they have covered since Sept).  The results of these assessments are used to guide our teaching and direct the goals for our School Improvement Plan.

Both classes have a review sheet due this week.  Please check this over with your child and identify areas that you may help them with or that they need to ask me for help in.

7/8H Homeroom - please work on selling gas tickets and getting books with money handed in as soon as possible.

7/8H Math - last week's tests (averages and squares an square roots) will be handed back and gone over on Monday.  Return signed AND corrected for bonus 3% by Wed Nov 29 - Bring a calculator to classes this week

7/8H Science - Tides/Waves/Currents questions due yesterday

6 Tech - Launching Rockets weather permitting, Mon Nov. 27 - Dress appropriately

7/8 Tech - Launching Hot Air Balloons weather permitting, Mon Nov. 27 - Dress appropriately. If your slip is not returned you are not allowed to launch and must remain in the school.
