• $$$Ch-ch-ch-change!$$$ Check out the PROBLEM OF THE WEEK ou PROBLÈME DE LA SEMAINE. Solution to be released next week!

 • Complete 20 minutes or more of DreamBox lessons each day. Remember, the lessons will progressively get more challenging, the more lessons you do. CLICK HERE

 • Check out the latest issue of the ASDN Weekly STEAM publication available (in English and French). Complete the activities of your choice. You can email a photo to your Science teacher to show what you’ve done, if you’d like!

 2 - English Literacy:

• Read 30 minutes each day. If you are still having trouble accessing books, CLICK HERE, or email Ms. Perry or Ms. Stewart for help.

 • Use the prompt HERE to reflect on your reading this week.

 • Find this week’s writing suggestion HERE- Feel free to email your response to Ms. Stewart or Ms. Perry.  Have fun with this one!

 3 - French Literacy:

 • Read 30 minutes each day. If you have nothing to read, check out the ebooks available HERE

 • Use the prompts HERE to reflect on your reading this week.

 • Practice your conversational skills en français with a family member, by phone with a friend, or with one of your teachers! Check out this video of your French teachers practicing their French skills at home HERE, and find some guiding questions in the document HERE. Don’t hesitate to email Ms. Bell or Ms. Richardson to set up a time to chat.

 • Ready to challenge yourself with creating something in French? CLICK HERE for a fun assignment. Make sure to email your finished product to your French teacher.

4 - Move your body for at least 15 minutes each day. If you would like some creative ideas for doing that, Mrs. Thorne has a fun list that you can see by CLICKING HERE. Keep your well-being front and centre by continuing your Gratitude Journal – see your teachers’ example HERE

5 - Your Art Lesson this week can be found HERE

This is a fantastic lesson for drawing a realistic eye! Make sure you are pausing the video when you need to, as the artist is moving fairly quickly. Use a light hand (my favourite expression, right?) Watch for how she curves her lines...in fact, the only time straight lines are used is in the shading of the iris (the coloured part of the eye). If you really like your finished product, be sure to e-mail Mrs. Throne a picture!

6 - Music:

Composers have been influenced by works of visual art, and visual artists by music, for a very long time. For example, Russian composer Modest Mussorgsky composed a series of piano pieces inspired by a visit to an art exhibition, called “Pictures at an Exhibition.” Another example is Vincent Van Gogh’s “The Starry Night” inspired Don McLean’s song “Vincent.”

Listen to a piece of instrumental music. Draw a picture of what you think it’s about, or how it makes you feel.

Also - for those of you who have guitars, ukuleles or recorders at home, here are some links to beginner lessons: GUITAR, UKULELE, RECORDER

Have a great week of learning and be well!

Ask your parents or grandparents who/what kind of music they listened to when they were your age. If possible, listen to some of the songs or artists they told you about. How does it make you feel? How does the music the compare to your preference in music today? What is similar? What is different?
