Good morning students and families!   

Today is our 4th day of Home Learning in 2022. 

Here are today’s activities. 

 

Language Arts: 

Alphabet Review:ABC Jamboree by StoryBots   (Right click on link to open) 

We are finishing up with the letter Ll today! 

 

Letter Ll Activities: 

Go on a letter hunt and look for the letter Ll or items that begin with /l/ in your home. (lemon, lamp, light, etc.) 

 

Writing: 

Today we are going to write about something that we love that begins with /l/. For example, “I love lemonade.”  “I love ladybugs.” Draw a picture to go with your story. 

 

Sight Words:

Our sight words for this week are: see a 

 

Reading:

In your home learning packet, take out the sight word reading sheet for practicing reading the word see. ( I see my dog.) Practice reading while pointing to the words and using the pictures.  

Next, on the back of the reading sheet, complete the activities for the word see.

In your home learning packet, please complete the Count the Hot Chocolate! Sheet. Remember when filling in ten frames we fill the top row first then bottom left to right.  

 

It is important to read to your child each day and have them go outside for physical activity- hopefully it will be warmer today. 

Squiggle Park – don't forget to check out Squiggle Park for lots of great literacy activities. You can log in using the information that was sent home earlier in the year.  

Check out Mr. MacKinnon’s Teacher Page for some fun and creative ideas to stay physically active! He has added a Ten Day Dance Unit that students can try at home. 

 

Any completed work can be stored in the Home Learning Kit - until we return to in person learning at school to be placed in their binders.

Good morning students and families!   

Today is our 3rd day of Home Learning in 2022. 

Here are today’s activities. 

 

Language Arts: 

Letter Ll - This week we are learning about the letter l. Ll makes the sound /l/. This sound is made in the mouth - with the tongue pushing up against your top front teeth. Lizzy Lizard lays her body on a log as she makes the sound. 

 

Letter Ll Activities: 

In your home learning packet, take out the sheet with the picture of the lizard. Practice printing 10 lovely letter ls around the picture of the lizard. Remember to start at the top and go down in a straight line. Color the lizard. :) 

Sight Words   

Our sight words for this week are:seea 

Practice sheet - In your home learning packet, take out the sight word sheet for practicing reading the word I. (I paint, I eat, etc.) Practice reading while pointing to the words and using the pictures. Next, complete the activity sheet titled SuperSight Word:I.Remember, when we read I as a word, it is always a capital letter.  

 

Math 

In your home learning packet, take out the sheet titled Count the Warm Mittens! Count the mittens, fill in the ten frame to show that many and write the numeral in the blank. The first one is done for you! 

 

Art 

On the website Art for Kids Hub, there is a cartoon ladybug to draw. Check it out!  How To Draw A Cartoon Ladybug (Right click on the link to open) 

You can count & add 6 dots onto your ladybug (3 on each side or 4 & 2 or 5 & 1)

  1. In your home learning packet, please take out the sheet for the My Ll Book. Fold the paper into a booklet. Go over eachpicture's name. Point to each word as you read the booklet. 

Sight Words  

Kindergarten students will now be learning sight words which are words they will know quickly without having to solve by sounding out - Words they will know by sight. 

 

Our sight words for this week are:
    I see a 

 

You will find these words on the index card inside your packet.  

Practice these words by pointing to them out of order, write them on separate pieces of paper or playing a matching game. 

 

WritingOn the back of the Help the Lion Find the Lake sheet from yesterday’s lesson, students can practice writing the sight wordsby writing the sentence“I see a ____” and choose something that starts with /l/ to finish their sentence. For example, “I see a lion.” 

Math 

Number 6:In your packet, take out the Number Six Train sheet. Trace the numeral 6 on the train. Count the candies in the boxes and cut and glue the picture that shows 6 candies onto the train. Color the train.

Number 6 Hunt: Go on a number hunt for the number 6 around your house. Some places to check are calendars, food labels, page numbers, books, games, phone, etc.

Happy New Year! 

Good morning students and families!   

I hope you had a restful Christmas break with your family. 

Today is our 1st day of Home Learning in 2022. 

 

Here are today’s activities. 

Language Arts:

Letter Ll - This week we are introducing the letter l. Ll makes the sound /l/. This sound is made in the mouth - with the tongue pushing up against your top front teeth. Lizzy Lizard lays her body on a log as she makes the sound. 

 

Letter Ll Activities: 

  1. Do you have an Ll in your name? Does anyone in your family have an Ll in their name? What about your classmates’ names? Can you make a list of other words that begin with /l/? 

  1. In your new home learning packet, please take out the Help Lion Find the Lake beginning sounds sheet. Color the pictures that begin with /l/.  

Writing – Talk with someone at your house about the best day of your Winter break. Draw and write about it on the sheet with the title The Best Day. A sample sentence could be “I played with my brother.” “I got a new truck.” Encourage your child to write the word I and any other words or parts of words they are able to write on their own. 

 

Math 

Number 6: 

In your packet- find the gumball sheet “Six Gumballs”- have your child colour only 6 gumballs in each machine- be careful some have more than six!    

 

Practice counting to six by collecting six items in your home (Example- 6 toys; 6 socks; six crayons...etc)

Math game: If you have a dice game at home, this is a great way to practice recognizing numbers 1-6. There are dice games in the previous COVID packets that were sent home at an earlier time.

Good morning, 

Please see below for your home learning activities for today. Our plan is to provide you with activities you can use from the second Home Learning packets that were sent home in November and additional activities posted on our Teacher Pages. 

Today’s activities are the following: 

Language Arts 

  1. Review the letters a – k. This includes the letter names, sounds, and actions. 

  1. Practice printing your name with an uppercase letter at the beginning and the remaining letters are lowercase letters. Please use the correct formation when printing your letters! 

  1. Tell a story with a picture about a favorite toy at homeAt this point in kindergarten, students are learning that their pictures match their words. We have been working on copying a sentence and the students write the last word in the sentence. For example,  I see a ______.” 

Math 

  1. Practice counting from 0 – 10. 

  1. We have been learning about patterning. In your kit, please see the pattern sheet with monster pictures. Students can circle which object comes next in the pattern. 

  1. Monster Mash ten frames – Cut and glue the numeral to the matching ten frame. 

It is important to read to your child each day and have them go outside for physical activity.

Dear parents/guardians, 

Reminder that picture retakes and sibling photos must be ordered by today, November 29th! If you have any questions, you can email Jordan Pinder at pinderjordan@gmail.com 

A note was sent home on Friday asking you to fill in a preferred time for a Parent Teacher phone call. Please be sure to return this form on the first day back to school or email your time preference (Thursday between 4-5 or 5-6 or Friday between 9-10 or 10-11)  

Report cards will be going home on Tuesday, November 30th. Please note you keep the report card, but please sign and return the response form and envelope! 

***Please note there is no school for students this Friday, December 3rd, due to Parent Teacher interviews and Professional Learning.

Language Arts 

  • Please practice saying the alphabet letter names and sounds. 

  • This week we are learning about the letter Ii - Ii makes the sound /i/. We hold up our index finger and move it up and down for Inny Inchworm. 

  • Go on an Ii hunt in your home to see what you can find that begins with Ii. 

  • Do you know anyone who has an Ii in their name? 

  • From your home packet sent home earlier this year, please practice tracing the letters a to i.

  • From your home packet, play Roll and Cover Ten Frame - Play the roll and cover dice game with a family member using your dice and counters.

  • This week we are learning about the letter HhHh makes the sound /h/, which comes from the back of the throat and feels like hot air. We slap our legs like a horse galloping – Honey Horse. 

  • Go on an Hh hunt in your home to see what you can find that begins with h. 

  • Do you know anyone who has an Hh in their name? 

  • From your home packet sent home earlier this year, please practice tracing the letters a to h. 

Math 

This week we are continuing to learn about subitizing and reviewing patterns.

Good morning students and families! Can you believe it is Friday!  

We hope you had a nice family day of reflection Thursday as we remembered those who gave so much so we can live in peace. 

 

Today is our 9th day of Home Learning. Here are today’s activities. 

Language Arts: 

1) Alphabet Review – Phonics song- A is for Apple-ABC alphabet song with sounds for children- click link below (4:00) 

 

2) Letter Gg - This week we are introducing the letter g. Gg makes the sound /g/ (guh). Remember Gordo Gorilla pounds his chest when he makes the sound.

3) Letter Gg Activity – Draw and label items that start with Gg (Ex: grapes, girl, goat, gloves- Can you think of anything else?) 

 

Math 

This week we are learning about subitizing. Subitizing is the ability to instantly recognize, without counting, “how many” in a small set (dots on a dice).  

1) Another way to practice subitizing: looking at dominoes or a deck of cards- notice the dot patterns.  Find cards/dominoes that match (same amount of dots) 

2) Video: Subitize Super Fast by Jack Hartmann 

 

3) Math game to play that practices subitizing: Lady Bird Spots- choose matching. 

Fine Motor: practice making the letter ‘g’ and numeral ‘5’ using one of the following options (playdough, Legos, rocks or noodles). Remember to use the correct formation (top down) & practice tracing with your finger over them once finished & say the letter name or number.

Class code and student codes were emailed. Click on Student Play and then enter class code, select student name and enter student code.
