Welcome Back! Home Learning Jan, 11th-21st, 2022.

 Good afternoon parents and guardians, 

I wanted to touch base and welcome you back for another school year. I hope you had a lovely and restful Christmas break. As most of you are aware we will be beginning Home Learning on Tuesday January 11th until the 21st. The govenment will reassess the situation during the week of the 17th.

Materials ( learning packet) can be picked up Monday January 10th at the middle school doors from 11am-3pm. I will have packets for all students which I teach PIF, French Language Arts and Social Studies. It's very important packets are picked up as the material provided will be used during our virtual meetings. Students will have access to paper copies of assignment explained and covered during the meetings.

I would like to thank you for your patience, understanding and support. This is no an ideal situation for anyone. Please know I will be very happy and thankful when I'm able to welcome my students back to in person learning. Also, please be kind to yourselves. As parents, you are limited on what can be done at home. Your best is enough!

Operational Day

Homeroom- 8E Richardson

  • We will be decorating our classroom + door this week as we participate in spirit week. Come prepared with some ideas, decorations made or from home ( extra).
  • Ticket on the Ninento Switch will be sold Dec. 14th, 15th and 17th, tickets are $2.00 each.
  • Christmas Cafeteria Dinner is Thursday December 16th ( however must have been pre-ordered and payed for las week). This is just a reminder there will be no other meal available on this day.

 

 MAA Spirit Week 6-8

 

Monday December 20th- Thursday December 23rd, 2021.

 

Activity

Monday, Dec. 20- Christmas Hat Day (make your own) Santa, elf, snowman etc…

Lunch hour game: Pin the nose of Rudolph.

Tuesday, Dec. 21st- Character Day (dress up as a reindeer, Santa, Miss clause, elf, snowman, candy cane, Grinch, gingerbread).

Lunch hour game: Snowball toss.

Wednesday, Dec. 22nd - Crazy/ugly Christmas clothes. (Make your own, be creative).

Lunch hour game: Jingle Bell Shake

Thursday, Dec. 23rd -Comfy Day ( Half Day for students).

Wear your favorite pj’s, slippers and stuffy to school.

Lunch hour game: Christmas Trivia

 Throughout the day- Movie and Bingo.

  • Both classes will be working on making cards in French for our elementary students in French immersion. Students can write their message in French and e-mail to me for verification. It should be more then just Joyeux Noel .
  • Reading in French ( if you don't have a French book at home) please go to documents ( tab at the top of this page). In the document French websites, there are a few which you can access French books/stories.

8E- Collaboration: 

  • Students had their mini showcase on Dece,ber 10th, our final Showcase in when we return from Christmas break. Students should be completing their final projects, posters, project board, power point etc......

Homeroom- 8E Richardson

  • Research some fun classroom door decoration options and class decorations for Christmas.  
  • Report cards term one go home tomorrow November 30th. Please sign the back reflection sheet and send back with the envelop.
  • Parent- Teacher conference is virtual/ over the phone this term. Calls/ e-mail/ virtual meetings will be held Thursday evening November 2nd and Friday November 3rd in the morning.  Please take note if any teachers would like to speak with you ( please indicate the day which is best for contact). you may also request a call or e-mail from a teacher. 

 

8P1 & 8P2 Post Intensif French ( PIF):   

  • You can explore French videos on Youtube, focus should be on your numbers 1-100, how to introduce yourself in French. Classroom and  school vocabulary. 

7E & 8E Français: 

  • I'm still missing a few writing drafts from students ( please finish these ASAP and hand in).
  • Work on good copy of " Bande dessinée" and " Affiche Disparu".
  • Reading in French ( if you don't have a French book at home) please go to documents ( tab at the top of this page). In the document French websites, there are a few which you can access French books/stories.

8E- Collaboration: 

  • Your private groups have been created with the Teams Collaboration site: 
  •  Questions have been posted, you are free to work on these questions whenever is convenient for you. ( Same as last week).
  • ***** You must start your poster, power-point etc...... as we will have a checkin ( important one) on November 10th.

7E & 8E Science Humaine: Nothing new for today.

  •   Travaux #1  Les septs enseignements sacrés (7 sacred teachings) Due date is Wednesday November 10th, 2021. ***** I'm still missing a few of these assignments.

  •  " Bande dessinée" draft was due Friday November 5th.
  • Complete  all check-in on Teams.
  • Writing piece (draft only) Porté disparu was due November 12th.

  • Congratulations 8E on winning $100 towards a classroom celebrations ( class who had the highest % of participation for the gas fundraider from grades 6-8).
  • No school for students: Friday November 19th- 1/2 report card writing  + 1/2 Professional Learning for teachers.  

 

8P1 & 8P2 Post Intensif French ( PIF):   

  • Students will be working on their booklet ( La rentrée) this week with the teachers help to finish the booklet. Students will also be given time in class to complete all check-ins which were not completed during at home learning. Make sure to bring back your booklet to school!

 7E & 8E Français: 

This week students will work on catching up/ completing at home learning assignments ( we will not be covering anything new this week):

  •  " Bande dessinée" draft was due Friday November 5th.
  • Complete  all check-in on Teams: 
  • Compréhension de lecture "Chandail Orange" was in the home learning envelop, it must be returned tomorrow Tuesday November 16th.
  • Writing piece (draft only) Porté disparu was due November 12th.

  • Halloween celebration will take place tomorrow Tuesday November 16th ( costume parade and reverse trick or treat for our seniors). Students are asked to donate treats to be given to our seniors ( mini chocolate bars, pudding cups, granola bars, rice crispy squares ect...). 
  • No school for students: Friday November 19th- 1/2 report card writing  + 1/2 Professional Learning for teachers.
