Students wrote very insightful poems in recognizition of Pink Shirt Shirt. They were given individual roles of either: The Bully, The Bullied, The Bystander, or The Brave. They then wrote poems from that character's point of view.  Be sure to read the wonderful pieces of work by 7/8 ELA students...

Grade 7/8E: Reading journal number 5 & 6 were assigned on Feb.6 and Feb. 27- Predicting #5 & #6: When you read, you can guess, or predict what might happen next, or what you might learn next based on the author's clues and your own personal knowledge.  You can predict:

  • before reading: title, cover, last chapter
  • during reading: stop often to guess what will happen next.
  • after reading: check to see if your predictions were correct. Make predictions for next chapter.

Make two predictions for journal entry #5.   They must be in proper sentence and paragraph form, and clearly show your thinking.  For journal entry #6 you need two paragrpahs.  Your choice of connections, questioning, predicting, observations etc.

Grade 7/8E: Reading journal number 4 & 5 were assigned last & this week- Visualizing #4 & 5: When you read create a movie in your mind to help better understand the events, characters, and details of the story.  Use all 5 senses to create the mind movies.  You can visualize:

  • the setting of the story
  • how a character looks and acts
  • an event from the story
  • details about the topic

Visualizing journal must have two sketches of your visualizing and a short write up explaining the sketch.  They must be in proper sentence and paragraph form, and clearly show your thinking.
