I am showing you how to make two different kinds of trifle. You need to decide before you start to cook which trifle you want to make for Mom.

Death by Chocolate Trifle- You need 1 chocolate cake mix, 2 boxes of instant chocolate pudding , 4-6 chocolate bars of your choice [ Iuses Kit Kat,coffee crisp,] and a tub of frozen whipped topping., 3 cups of milk.

Tropical Trifle- You will need 1 vanilla cake mix, 2 boxes of instant vanilla pudding, 1 cup margarine, 1 cup brown sugar, 1/2 cup cream or milk, 1 tub of frozen whipped topping, strawberries, mandarin orange segments( can ) ,  4 kiwis., 3 cups of milk.

How to Make Your Masterpiece!

1. Bake your cake according to the instructions on the box. Let it cool completely.

2. Mix two packages of pudding and 3 cups of milk until the pudding is almost set.

3 . Chop candy bars into small pieces and set aside. Or for tropical trifle, slice all the fruit into small pieces

4. Let frozen whipped topping sit at room temperature to thaw enough so that you can spread it with a spoon.

5. If making the tropical trifle, in a pot bring the margarine, brown sugar and milk to a slow boil and let it boil for only five minutes, then set aside to cool completely.

6. Cut cake in small pieces.

7. Begin layering trifle. Cake, pudding chocolate bar pieces or fruit, dessert topping, caramel sauce for the fruit trifle, repeat all layers and add either bar pieces or fruit and Carmel sauce to the top layer for decoration.

8. Chill in fridge for at least an hour before serving.

This week we are making dinner for the family. I know you can do this!

Barbequed Ribs in the Oven

Enough ribs for your family (1 pack)

1litre of Coke (not diet!)

1 onion

1 bottle of your favourite barbeque sauce ( I use a sweet sauce)

Lets Get Started!

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Cut ribs into serving portions ( 4-5 bones in the portion) and place them in a baking dish with the bone side down and the meaty side up.Peel and quarter your onion and put it on top of the ribs in the four big chunks.

2. Slowly pour the Coke over the ribs and then cover with tinfoil. Cook in oven for 45 minutes.

3. Drain the pop off the ribs, leaving the onion in as well. Pour your barbecue sauce over the ribs, making sure you get them all covered. cover them again with the tinfoil and pop them back in the oven. This time turn your oven back to 325 degrees. let them slow cook for at least an hour, even two. when they are done, they fall right off the bones, but you don't need to wait that long. Usually after one hour they are completely cooked.

Oven Fried Rice

2 cups long grain rice (Uncle Bens) or Basmati or whole grain rice. NOT Minute rice!

3 cups water

1 envelope onion soup mix

1/4 cup oil

1/4 cup soya sauce

1 can of mushrooms, or water chestnuts or both

You May add 1/2 cup of green pepper chopped.

Making It.

1. Mix all the ingredients in a large casserole dish that has a cover ( or you could use tinfoil).

2. Cover it and cook it in the oven at 350 degrees for 50- 60 minutes.

Please cook a veggie to go with your meal.

With the Covid-19 pandemic we have all had to step up and be not only good citizens in our own communities, but good global citizens.

This week watch the news and record examples of great community and global citizenship. as well, each day I challenge you to be a responsible and caring global citizen. Please send me a message or email me to tell me how you have been a great citizen.
